What would be a barking mad idea for a Halloween costume this year? I have a though—the Wilfred dog costume. Yes outfit from the very popular TV show in America Wilfred will surely be a hit this coming Halloween season. The costume isn’t available yet, but no worries. We’ll show you how to make a Wilfred costume for Halloween.
Actually, it’s easy to make a Wilfred costume for Halloween as the skills required are minimal, the procedure is simple, and the materials are readily available. The costume is simply a one piece gray outfit that is made out of a shaggy type of fabric and has a head piece with an open face and floppy ears hanging off the side. You will need to apply some makeup on your face to complete the look, particularly by painting your nose black rather than using a fake dog nose.
How To Make A Wilfred Costume For Halloween
1. Buy grey sweat pants with a grey hooded sweatshirt from your local thrift store or Walmart. If you want to be different then you can opt for other colors such as white, black, or brown. Women can use a feminine color like pink or purple if they like. Footed pajamas would be an excellent option as well.
The hooded sweatshirt will form the head and body of the Wilfred costume and should be the same color as the sweat suit. It is very important that you purchase these items with comfort as the main consideration. Try to find those with a shaggy or furry fabric if you can but make sure that you are not allergic to them.
2. The next thing that you will do is to cut out and sew big floppy ears to the hood of the sweat suit or the sweat shirt. You can do this by getting a separate piece of cloth of similar fabric to the sweatshirt then cutting long floppy ears just like that of Wilfred and then sewing them on each side of the hood. Fabric stores may even have gray furry fabric that you can use. As an alternative, you can use socks to create the dog’s ears.
3. The next things to you need is the paws and tail. Get two matching socks and slip them on you hands. Do the same thing for your feet as well. Then create your tail from a stocking which will be attached at the bottom of the sweatshirt.
4. Lastly, for the finishing touches. You know that Wilfred actually has a man’s face with just a painted nose rather than an attached fake one. For this task, you can use women’s eyeliner or face paint to create a black triangle over your nose similar to a dog. That is actually all you need to complete the overall look. Of course, you can add your own flare if you like. A bear accessory wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
There you have it, a simple and easy procedure on how to make a Wilfred costume for Halloween. Enjoy and have a great fun.
